10 Top Tips for Healthy Hair

Healthy hair begins with a well-nourished scalp. Literally getting to the root of the problem, we researched scalp issues and solutions to maintain luscious locks.

Hair is constantly at the mercy of environmental pollutants and self-inflicted stresses through overuse of hair products, hot hairdryers, hair straighteners, and more. Hair damage can give locks a dull appearance and hair strands can easily break, causing frizz and thinning.

It starts with the scalp

If your scalp is unhealthy, you may be experiencing an itchy head. This can result in a flaky scalp; not a good look on your shoulders if you’re wearing black! We believe that beauty is an inside job, so it all starts with a healthy diet. A nutrient-packed diet coupled with a healthy lifestyle goes a long way in maintaining shiny and voluminous hair. That brings with it confidence and a radiant appearance.

Secondly, remember that your scalp is skin too and therefore needs to be moisturised just as much as the rest of the body. Using an effective scalp essence twice a day can nourish hair follicles and begin to restore scalp health. Adding to your daily skincare routine, simply massage the essence into any affected areas, allowing you to feel self-assured when you step outside.

10 Healthy Hair Habits

Tip 1: Eat a Healthy Diet

Shine inside and out by eating a protein-rich diet, such as salmon, pulses, and grains. Pack in those vitamins too, as they can help to protect against hair loss.

Tip 2: Detangle hair gently

Use a wide-toothed comb to gently detangle your hair, starting at the ends and working up towards the roots. If you're heading into the shower, practice this ritual before entering to ensure your hair doesn’t get matted.

Tip 3: Use a kind shampoo

Look at your labels because if it’s kind to the environment it’ll be kind to you. Check for natural ingredients, making sure your shampoo is sulfate and paraben-free and without colourants. Use a small amount in the palm of your hand and massage well into wet hair.

Tip 4: Always condition

Invest in a good conditioner and apply a small amount to the mid-shaft of the hair, working down to the ends and up to the scalp. Sing to your heart’s content in the shower for a minute while your conditioner works wonders, then remember to rinse fully before stepping out.

Tip 5: Towel dry the hair

Towel drying hair saves drying time under the high heat of a hairdryer, which can weaken and damage hair. If you can, allow your hair to dry naturally a few times a week.

Tip 6: Nourish the scalp

Use a scalp essence if you’re prone to a dry or itchy scalp. Apply once in the morning and again before bed to the affected areas. O’PUREO’s Treatment №5 Nourishing Essence for Scalp reduces scalp and hair follicle irritation and inflammation. It also removes flakiness and reduces hair loss.

Tip 7: Try not to stress

Whether you’re stressing about your hair length or something more serious, tension on the inside always shows up on the outside. Try practising some easy mindfulness techniques at the beginning of your day and to relax again before bedtime.

Tip 8: Get regular trims

Lockdown showed us all what happens when you don’t have a regular trim! Split ends halt healthy hair growth. It’s recommended that you get a decent trim every 6-8 weeks.

Tip 9: Invest in a good hat

Sun exposure and pollutants can damage your hair, so it’s wise to wear a hat if you’re planning to be outdoors for some time. There are also lots of protective hair mists on the market which contain SPF’s if you’re not planning on rocking headgear to match your outfit.

Tip 10: Use a wooden comb

Metal combs can be abrasive on the hair so invest in a good quality, wooden comb. Using a wooden comb allows the hair’s natural oils to travel from root to ends easily. Metal or cheap plastic combs cause more friction, resulting in damaged strands and oily patches.

Just a few simple additions to your self-care ritual and you’ll be swaying your glossy tresses with pride!
